POSITION SUMMARY
Comprehensive training will be provided to develop the necessary skills to function as a Freight Operations Coordinator for over-the-road trucks that pick up, secure, and deliver freight, products, and/or commodities for client shippers to designated locations nationwide. Key responsibilities include securing carriers, negotiating rates, and monitoring performance. The Coordinator will utilize company software and direct communication to track, document, and oversee load movements and any special requirements, ensuring senior management is kept informed through personal communications, emails, and structured reporting systems.
The support aspect of the role will involve gathering information, data entry, completing assigned tasks, and providing administrative assistance to the office. Direct interaction with customers, vendors, and suppliers will be a crucial component of this position. Salary will be determined based on experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiate and engage trucks in a profitable and efficient manner.
  • Accurately and promptly enter load status, costs, and freight audit information into the operating system as required by the company and clients.
  • Immediately follow up and report to management on any deviations from company practices, procedures, or issues encountered with shippers and carriers.
  • Utilize industry tools and relationships to verify and qualify potential carriers under management supervision.
  • Clearly communicate service expectations to all engaged carriers, initially under direct management supervision.
  • Consistently follow up to ensure loads are progressing according to schedule and meeting customer expectations.
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks or duties as requested by management.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably with a focus on logistics, business, or accounting.
Experience: Entry-level to three years.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in business software, including Excel, QuickBooks, and Word, along with excellent writing and typing abilities.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and apply knowledge of the logistics and brokerage sectors within the U.S. independent trucking and shipper relationships – geographic knowledge is essential.
  • Outstanding communication skills, analytical abilities, and an understanding of customer expectations and adherence to company policies.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and adherence to both customer and company schedules.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of the logistics system for moving goods and commodities.
  • Familiarity with the Interstate Highway system and online resources for route research.
  • Additional skills deemed important by the applicant and the company for this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, with potential for more based on experience and skills, along with eligibility for an annual bonus.
