Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer to join our team at MillerKnoll Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying standard engineering principles to routine assignments in support of business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and technical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, determining manpower and cost estimates, and developing engineering criteria.

The Product Engineer will also be responsible for performing primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. They will apply originality, ingenuity, and knowledge of other disciplines to solve basic technical issues.

The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to execute solutions independently. They will also have strong communication skills, with the ability to coach basic engineering tasks to others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply basic supply chain cost, value stream capabilities, and economic principles
  • Apply learned engineering skills to work assignments
  • Apply problem-solving skills and execute solutions to problems independently
  • Coach basic engineering tasks to others
  • Complete engineering tasks within the oversight of leadership
  • Follow engineering and quality processes
  • Manage Capital Procurement projects for Manufacturing line updates and installations
  • Seek and receive mentoring from senior-level and engineering leadership
  • Seek approval of budget owner using the appropriate request process
  • Take good notes, showing work and assumptions
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Requirements

  • Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program or 2-year technical degree in a related field with 5 years of applicable engineering experience
  • 2-4 years of professional engineering experience or 0-3 years of specialty engineering experience, applicable internship/co-op experience, and experience with participating and leading projects
  • Project management experience may be essential for some assignments
  • Knowledgeable in Lean principles and application
  • Must be able to assess process concepts and to determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with people at various levels, including production, engineering and management and to be able to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members
  • Knowledgeable in the use of common office automation, communication, software, tools, MillerKnoll mainframe applications, and engineering-related software
  • Must be a skilled problem solver and be able to apply engineering expertise to problem-solving
  • Must be able to assess priorities and determine the course of action with minimal day-to-day supervision and be able to anticipate, recognize and respond effectively to changes that affect project plans
  • Must have an overall business sense and understand how decisions impact business results
