Richmond, Virginia, United States Commonwealth of Virginia Full time
Mission of the Unit:

The Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic within the VCU Department of Pediatrics stands as the sole specialty group in Central Virginia focused on the assessment and continuous management of all pediatric pulmonary conditions. It is also recognized as the only accredited cystic fibrosis center and sleep laboratory in the area. Our specialists deliver comprehensive clinical evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing care for pediatric patients suffering from chronic respiratory issues, including asthma and cystic fibrosis. Given the intricate nature of pulmonary care, our team is dedicated to training medical students and residents to collaborate effectively with primary care providers, ensuring a consistent approach to the daily health requirements of these patients. We are committed to fostering community partnerships aimed at enhancing care, education, and outreach for prevalent pulmonary issues, such as asthma.

The ideal candidate will possess energy, creativity, and vision to lead a distinguished academic division specializing in pulmonary and sleep medicine, providing clinical services within a Pediatric Medical Center. Our division is experiencing significant growth and is actively engaged in externally funded research across various domains, including bench, translational, clinical, and epidemiological studies, as well as Quality Improvement initiatives. The Division encompasses a fellowship program, a high-performing cystic fibrosis center (integrated with the CFF Therapeutic Development Network, Success with Therapies Research Consortium, and CF Learning Network), a community asthma initiative, a sleep program, and collaborates on multidisciplinary aerodigestive, chronic ventilation, neuromuscular, and sickle cell programs.
