Position Overview:

The Healthcare Business Referral Specialist plays a vital role within the healthcare team, ensuring seamless patient follow-up and support throughout their care journey. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including welcoming patients, managing phone communications, scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying insurance details, collecting copays, handling pre-certifications, obtaining prior authorizations, processing referrals, preparing charts, managing faxes, and providing essential clerical assistance to healthcare providers and staff. This role is crucial in managing the checkout process and scheduling specialty referrals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently registers patients by gathering and confirming necessary information, including identity, contact details, primary care provider, insurance, and copay requirements.
  • Welcomes and interacts with patients in a friendly and professional manner, both over the phone and in person.
  • Takes the initiative in coordinating complex specialty referral appointments during the checkout process, demonstrating an understanding of various specialties.
  • Provides support across different roles within various departments or locations as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; coursework in secretarial or medical fields is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a medical office or billing environment is required.
  • Experience with the Epic EMR system is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with patient billing processes and medical terminology is advantageous.
