Building Automation Specialist I

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a Building Automation Technician I to join our dedicated team. This role involves engaging in complex tasks related to the operation, upkeep, modification, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of various automation systems, including Building Automation Systems, Fire Protection Systems, and Security Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair both field and panel-mounted devices, along with their associated control algorithms for HVAC and environmental automation systems.
- Support the maintenance and functionality of Fire Protection and Security Systems.
- Assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of new automation systems and modifications to existing systems, which may include the addition of card readers, relocation of thermostats, and installation of new VAV controllers.
- Coordinate ongoing construction activities and respond to out-of-band environmental parameters.
- Generate detailed reports regarding equipment utilization.
- Provide training to colleagues on the operation and repair of automated building systems.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of electronic principles and basic computer programming skills.
- Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operations, and control loops.
- Willingness and capability to quickly learn new technical skills for facility maintenance and operation.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
- Capability to climb stairs and ladders, and enter confined spaces as necessary.
- Ability to exert physical force as required for job-related tasks.
