Job Summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our investment objectives through timely new issue recommendations, structural and underlying asset analysis, and ongoing surveillance of current holdings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of primary and secondary structured asset markets, including relative value analysis and investment opportunities.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for new issue investments, considering both structural and underlying asset analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of current holdings, ensuring alignment with our investment objectives and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain investment sector thesis, including positioning and internal rating assessments.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics and maintain asset analytics and modeling.
  • Participate in sector-level analysis and overview, identifying inflection points and providing fundamental sector outlook and recommendations.
  • Integrate ESG considerations into sector evaluation and highlight relevant ESG options.
  • Develop and maintain research tools and platforms to enhance the research process.
  • Provide analytical support and participate in relative value discussions with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Current or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models, supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
