Job Summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our investment objectives through timely new issue recommendations, structural and underlying asset analysis, and ongoing surveillance of current holdings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of primary and secondary structured asset markets, including relative value analysis and investment options.
  • Present secondary ideas based on relative value and trading approved trade ideas.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of current holdings to ensure alignment with current fundamental viewpoints and right-size risk.
  • Update investment sector thesis and positioning on a regular basis.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics compared to a benchmark and maintain asset analytics and modeling.
  • Conduct sector-level analysis and overview to identify inflection points and provide fundamental sector outlook and recommendations.
  • Evaluate ESG options within an analyst's sector coverage and incorporate elements of ESG into sector evaluation.
  • Develop and execute projects to enhance and improve the research process, including leveraging technology platforms.
  • Provide analytical support and participate in relative value discussions across sectors.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Current or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
