Job Summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our investment objectives through timely new issue recommendations, structural and underlying asset analysis, and ongoing surveillance of current holdings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of primary and secondary structured asset markets, including relative value analysis and investment opportunities.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for new issue investments, considering both structural and underlying asset analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of current holdings, ensuring risk alignment with current fundamental viewpoints.
  • Collaborate with the structured assets team to develop and maintain investment sector thesis, including positioning and internal rating assessment.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics compared to benchmarks, and maintain asset analytics and modeling.
  • Contribute to sector-level analysis and overview, identifying inflection points and providing fundamental sector outlook and recommendations.
  • Integrate ESG considerations into sector evaluation, highlighting relevant ESG options within analyst coverage.
  • Participate in cross-sector support and debate, providing analytical support and relative value discussions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Current or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models, supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
