Job Title: Structured Assets Credit Analyst

Securian Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping the structured assets team achieve the investment objectives of various portfolio strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee primary and secondary structured asset markets, providing timely new issue recommendations with structural and underlying asset analysis, considering relative value across structured assets and broader investment options.
  • Present secondary ideas based on relative value.
  • Responsible for trading approved trade ideas.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of current holdings, aiming to right-size risk to align with current fundamental viewpoints.
  • Update investment sector thesis with regular positioning.
  • Internal rating assessment.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics compared to a benchmark.
  • Maintain asset analytics and modeling.
  • Perform recurring sector-level analysis and overview to identify inflection points within an analyst's sector coverage, expressed through fundamental sector outlook and recommendation.
  • Evaluate sectors incorporating elements of ESG to highlight relevant ESG options within an analyst's sector coverage.
  • Develop projects and experiments to enhance and improve the research process, leveraging various technology platforms.
  • Provide cross-sector support and debate, helping to provide analytical support and participate in relative value discussions.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Currently hold or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, Tableau.
Work Environment:

Securian Asset Management believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. This position requires that you live within a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in St. Paul, MN. You'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight-day per month standard is an option.

*Internal Securian Asset Management job title for this position is Asset Management Consultant or Sr. Consultant*.

Physical Job Requirements:
  • Ability to utilize the keyboard, computer, and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to utilize the phone and/or virtual meeting platform for 1-4 hours per day.

The estimated base salary pay range for this job is $131,000-$191,000. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. This job is also eligible for a performance-based incentive program.
