Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform diagnostic procedures using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure
  • Provide quality images for interpretation
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures
  • Assist in a variety of imaging procedures
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel
  • Ensure prompt submission of all high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, images labeled correctly and patient data/history)
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas
  • Comply with regulatory agencies and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Education and Experience

An Associate's degree or completion of a Sonography certification program is required. No experience is necessary, but a strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy is preferred.

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing and walking, as well as frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. You will also need to frequently use hearing and speech to share information through oral communication and frequently use hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

You must hold a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty, Breast (BR) Specialty, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Specialty, or other relevant certifications. You may also hold a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or other relevant certifications.
