Job Summary

The Resident Accounts Coordinator performs a variety of duties under general supervision of the Resident Accounts Specialist, including maintaining financial aspects of resident accounts, providing financial advisory services, and preparing reports and analyzing data for accuracy.

This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial concepts and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify residents with delinquent accounts and analyze and update lists to produce delinquency notices and assess late fees.
  • Place holds on student records when necessary and compile data to provide information to the Assistant Director for Technology Services for basic setup of the StarRez database.
  • Work with the Licensing/Financial Specialist to coordinate evictions of residents for non-payment and/or non-enrollment, ensuring compliance with University and state laws and regulations.
  • Provide financial aid counseling to residents to ensure they meet federal and state financial aid guidelines and other academic requirements.
  • Approve or deny housing extensions (deferrals) based on financial aid award and advise residents on responsibilities and options regarding individual payment agreements.
  • Review financial aid information provided by the Financial Aid Department to coordinate payment plan information with financial aid disbursement dates.
Requirements
  • Four years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience.
  • Ability to review financial documents and data for accuracy, validity, completeness, and adherence to standards.
  • Ability to clearly answer questions and explain procedures and policies to students and the public in an efficient and courteous manner.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Federal and State Financial Aid processes that affect Housing residents.
  • Thorough knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
