Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Touchette Regional Hospital.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing phlebotomy services, maintaining laboratory files, handling specimens and reports, processing outpatients, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect blood samples from patients using various techniques, including finger stick, heel stick, and venipuncture.
- Interpret physician orders and enter test results into the laboratory information system.
- Follow proper identification procedures and record accurate information on specimen labels.
- Process and centrifuge specimens, and deliver them to the appropriate department.
- Sort and process incoming specimens, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Adhere to hospital and laboratory policies, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, or equivalent program required.
- Less than 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- BLS certification or obtained within 90 days.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects and wear personal protective equipment.
The Phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood and other bodily fluids.
The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
