Job Summary:

As a Licensing Surveyor in the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, Bureau of Behavioral Health Facilities Licensing, you will perform critical work in ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining licenses for healthcare institutions and sober living homes. Your responsibilities will include conducting initial and annual inspections, reviewing quality systems, and investigating complaints or unlicensed facilities. You will also correspond with regulated communities and regulatory bodies, respond to technical questions, and develop standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and understand statutes, rules, and internal procedures for discipline.
  • Participate in and conduct inspections/investigations to determine compliance with state regulations, statutes, rules, and internal procedures.
  • Prepare investigation reports.
  • Attend and participate in staff, advisory committee, and stakeholder organization meetings.
  • Provide technical assistance to current or potential providers and interact with other department offices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of Arizona Administrative Code and Arizona Revised Statutes related to licensed facilities and providers.
  • Good understanding of facility management and operational concepts.
  • Specialized procedures.
  • Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree, with experience working in a licensed or regulated setting, or experience working for a regulatory agency.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel statewide.
  • Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S. or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within 7 working days after beginning employment.
