Overview

The KBEC Group Inc. is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Salary:

We offer a competitive salary of $18.70 per hour, reflecting the importance of this role in enhancing the lives of our clients.

Job Description

This position involves supporting individuals in developing basic living and social skills, facilitating their integration into the community, and promoting independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop personalized plans to enhance life skills, including daily routines, social interactions, and community engagement.
  • Assist and document goal progress under the guidance of the Personal Support Team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, staff, and other stakeholders, providing advocacy and support as needed.
  • Perform or assist with personal care tasks, such as hygiene, dressing, and mobility assistance, according to individual needs.
  • Coordinate schedules, including appointments, activities, and work commitments, to ensure seamless planning and execution.
  • Monitor and report changes in individual status, behavior, or health, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably those with intellectual disabilities.
  • Successful completion of the DDS Direct Support Personnel Training program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Trained Medication Employee (TME) in the District of Columbia is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate equipment, such as wheelchairs and shower chairs, are necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or frequently, with physical demands exceeding sedentary work.
