Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Aquatic Husbandry Specialist to join our team at the Audubon Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our aquatic exhibits, ensuring the health and well-being of our aquatic animals, and providing exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the aquarist staff, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and exhibit maintenance.
  • Develop and implement effective life support systems, ensuring the health and well-being of our aquatic animals.
  • Collaborate with the Curator of Aquatic Husbandry to develop and implement conservation programs, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our aquatic collections.
  • Provide exceptional guest experiences, ensuring that all visitors have a positive and engaging experience.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in aquatic husbandry, ensuring that our exhibits and programs are always cutting-edge and innovative.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a zoological facility or public aquarium.
  • Strong knowledge of aquatic animal care, life support systems, and conservation practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • SCUBA certification and a valid driver's license are required.
