Security Officer

The Security Officer is a critical role at del Lago Resort and Casino, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests, team members, and assets. As a Security Officer, you will be the first point of contact for guests and team members in need of assistance, and will work closely with other departments to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment.
Key Responsibilities- Attend daily briefings and meetings to stay informed about security protocols and procedures.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Security Department by following prescribed policies and procedures, and adhering to the Responsible Gaming Plan and Internal Control Policies.
- Respond to non-routine incidents in a professional and timely manner, and make the necessary notifications.
- Perform currency transports in accordance with casino procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Ensure quick, fair, and consistent results to customer complaints.
- Safeguard property assets and maintain confidentiality.
- May be responsible for First Aid situations, including administering CPR.
- Must adhere to all aspects of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program and its regulations.
- Ensure the integrity of gambling, banking, count room, and cash handling procedures.
- Responsible for proper handling of confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials.
- Responsible for communication within the department, ensuring that information is shared with team members.
- Inform security senior management team of information necessary to the efficient operation of the casino.
- Deliver Old-World Hospitality and live the company core values.
- Must have the ability to regularly walk and work on feet to complete assigned shifts, talk, and hear.
- Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must have the ability to interpret a variety of technical and mathematical formulas.
- Must have the ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of team members and outside contacts.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate leadership and fairness in dealing with guests and team members, and possess the ability to instill a sense of pride and personal responsibility in staff.
- Must be flexible to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekend hours, and overtime as business needs dictate.
- Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, including the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas, such as confined spaces.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Formal security or law enforcement training, schooling, or certification required; related on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.
- Previous security, military, or civilian police officer training and/or experience required.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, instructions, and correspondence/memos.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or staff, guests, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
- Provide a current certificate of completion of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice (DCJS) 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training.
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member's department.
- Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gambling.
- Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with the state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls.
- Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any staff member that they have knowledge of.
