About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director to lead our biologics optimization and engineering efforts at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class R&D organization that unlocks innovation and delivers transformative therapies to patients worldwide.

As a Senior Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of novel biologics through in vitro based methodologies, with a focus on antibody discovery, optimization, and engineering. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to advance programs from discovery towards IND, leveraging your expertise in antibody yeast display methods, NGS/functional based datasets analysis, and phage methods.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Leadership: Provide innovative guidance on strategies towards candidate profiles for differing target types, optimization/engineering approaches to enhance properties, and appropriate incorporation of NGS based sequence analysis.
  • People Leadership: Empower and mentor a small team of scientists, promoting collaboration and a culture of excellence, while ensuring effective resource allocation and prioritization of programs under direct remit.
  • Program Involvement: Collaborate with internal/external groups to enable swift progression of molecules, providing scientific input to project teams and setting standards for excellent molecule triage.
  • Other: Contribute to patent preparation, IND documentation, and publication development, ensuring timely and accurate submission of regulatory documents.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 7+ years experience or MS with 13+ years experience or BS with 15+ years experience, with 5 years of Industry experience required.
  • 5 years of managerial experience required.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of scientific advancements, competitive landscape, new technologies, research portfolios, and partnerships.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $149,100 - $234,300 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. U.S.-based employees may also be eligible for short-term and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits.
