We seek an exceptional Associate Director to lead our biologics research and development efforts in Boston, MA. As a member of our Biotherapeutic Engineering team, you will report to the Senior Director and be responsible for the performance and results of a small team of scientists with an enterprise mindset.

Your expertise in antibody discovery, optimization through in vitro based methodologies, and advancing programs from discovery towards IND will drive our team's success. You will also possess proficiency in antibody yeast display methods, attention to technical detail, and excellent knowledge of phage methods. Integration of NGS/functional based datasets to mine and improve molecules is crucial, as well as experience with monospecific/mAbs, bispecifics, and single domain antibodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scientific Leadership:
    • Set high standards for execution effectiveness and thought rigor, drawing on in-depth knowledge of antibody-based discovery and optimization using yeast/phage in vitro based methods.
    • Provide innovative guidance on strategies towards candidate profiles for differing target types, optimization/engineering approaches to enhance properties, and progress from lead to candidate.
    • Experience in mining and triaging antibody repertoires to progress viable therapeutic molecules, incorporating NGS based sequence analysis for both repertoires and clonal populations.
  • People Leadership:
    • Organize and empower a small team, mentoring them in their mission to generate therapeutic biologics, while fostering an enterprise mindset with a broad view across the portfolio.
    • Develop the next generation of scientists and leaders, serving as a champion of new opportunities, inspiring and growing team members, and acting as a role model and mentor.
  • Program Involvement:
    • Ambassador for the biologics department, scientifically inputting to project teams, helping set standards for excellent molecule triage.
    • Collaborate exceptionally with internal/external groups for high efficiency and transparency to enable swift progression of molecules.
  • Other:
    • Expertise in data analysis tools to evaluate datasets and make informed decisions.
    • High diligence in data tracking, uploading, and recording using data management systems within the department.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 7+ years experience or MS with 13+ years experience or BS with 15+ years experience, requiring 5 years of industry experience and 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of scientific advancements, including competitive landscape, new technology, research portfolios, and partnerships.

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a U.S. base salary range of $149,100.00 - $234,300.00 in Boston, MA, along with medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits.
