Job Overview

The Crisis Intervention Specialist plays a vital role in linking individuals experiencing mental health crises with suitable care options. This position involves conducting risk evaluations in emergency situations and providing informed recommendations for treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk evaluations in emergency settings to determine suitable care pathways, including formulating preliminary diagnoses and treatment suggestions.
  • Utilize clinical expertise to make swift decisions in high-pressure environments with a significant patient load.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation to facilitate patient transitions to inpatient facilities, including necessary legal forms.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including emergency physicians, nursing staff, and psychiatric teams.
  • Employ de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations effectively.
  • Deliver psychoeducational support and immediate interventions to patients in the emergency department.
  • Support inpatient psychiatric teams with assessments and connections to further care.
  • Assist in coordinating care by reaching out to relevant resources, hospitals, and agencies.
  • Gather essential information to evaluate service needs, recommend treatments, and identify existing community resources.
  • Communicate critical information regarding patients to team members and leadership, ensuring timely updates to supervisors on operational matters.
  • Meet established billing targets and complete all necessary documentation within designated timeframes.
  • Engage in collaborative case discussions to enhance patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Shift Schedule: Friday - Saturday 6:45am-3:15pm, Sunday-Tuesday 2:45pm-11:15pm

Qualifications

  • Education: A Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a closely related field is required.
  • Licensure: Preferred candidates will hold a Licensed Professional in the Healing Arts (LPHA) credential, such as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental health conditions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and effective communication with medical personnel is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to function as a collaborative team member.
