About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction and Development Accountant to join our team at Thomas Edwards Group. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of large-scale industrial warehouse and multi-family apartment projects. This includes managing the financial management of construction and development projects, ensuring all financial processes align with company policies and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in construction accounting, with a strong understanding of construction and development project accounting, including cost tracking, pay applications, and financial reporting. You will also need to be proficient in construction accounting software and have advanced Excel skills.

You will work closely with project managers to ensure that all financial aspects of the project are accurately tracked and reported. You will also be responsible for coordinating and preparing draw requests for lenders, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring accurate job costing and allocation of costs across multiple projects.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in construction accounting, with a focus on industrial warehouse and multi-family apartment developments.
  • Strong understanding of construction and development project accounting, including cost tracking, pay applications, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in construction accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in managing lender and LP reporting, draw requests, and project budget reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of Texas construction regulations, tax laws, and project finance.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors, and financial stakeholders.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and construction-specific accounting principles.
