Job Title: Legal Assistant

The Addison Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide administrative support to our attorneys and paralegals. This role involves preparing legal documents, conducting research, managing files, and maintaining communication with clients and court officials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Meeting Coordination: Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for attorneys.
  • Client Communication: Answer phone calls, manage emails, and handle client communications.
  • File Management: Organize and maintain physical and electronic files and records.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research using various resources such as LexisNexis and Westlaw, and summarize and analyze legal documents, cases, and statutes.
  • Case Preparation: Assist in the preparation of case briefs and legal arguments, and file and retrieve documents with courts and administrative agencies.
  • Deadline Management: Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of legal documents.
  • Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and court officials, and gather information from clients for legal documents and case preparation.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive client information.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools, excellent organizational and time-management skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
