About the Position

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions plays a critical role in the recruitment and enrollment of undergraduate students at George Mason University. This position requires a strong understanding of the university's strategic plan and the ability to communicate effectively with prospective students and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains an active presence in assigned geographic regions to promote the university's academic programs and services.
  • Develops and implements recruitment strategies to attract and enroll a diverse student body.
  • Reviews and makes admissions decisions on undergraduate applicant files, ensuring that all decisions are made in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between Admissions and key partner offices, including academic departments and student services.
  • Supervises and mentors direct reports, evaluating employee performance and managing any employee issues.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of outreach initiatives to promote the university's academic programs and services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Some Admissions and related experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience serving in a leadership role and ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations.
