Job Overview:

The individual will be tasked with executing commissioning responsibilities as directed by the project supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support daily commissioning tasks on the assigned project.

- Familiarize oneself with relevant policies and procedures to effectively carry out assigned commissioning duties.

- Participate in project safety and planning meetings as necessary.

- Notify the Project Lead of any potential delays or budget overruns promptly.

- Continuously seek new business or customer opportunities.

- Willingness to travel overnight as required to meet job obligations.

- Identify safety risks associated with the project and contribute to a task-hazard-mitigation analysis.

- Recognize human performance risks and assist in a task-risk-mitigation analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Proven experience in supporting the successful execution of various P&C commissioning projects.

- Fundamental understanding of electrical theory and basic protective relaying principles.

- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.

- Competent in utilizing various relay test sets and automated relay testing software.

- Basic knowledge of network communications, including TCP/IP, DNP, Modbus, and media structures such as Ethernet and Serial over copper, fiber optics, telephone, or wireless systems.

- Familiarity with construction and apparatus testing standards and procedures. NETA III or IV certification is advantageous.

- Basic understanding of NERC Standards and CIP policies and procedures, along with required compliance documentation.

- Strong proficiency in common software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with project management software is a plus.

- Familiarity with common electrical industry software applications from manufacturers such as SEL, GE, Cooper, Novatech, ABB, Siemens, etc.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills with customers and team members.

- Strong organizational skills, including timely reporting of time and expenses, weekly status updates, and other documentation requirements.

- Responsibility to maintain a professional appearance and keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles clean, organized, and properly serviced.

Work Environment:

- Work in close proximity to live electrical substations, ensuring safety protocols are followed.

- Availability for occasional overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Ability to travel for overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.

Additional Work Environment Details:

- Participate in emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.

- Availability to provide technical advice and schedule workforce outside of regular work hours.

- Capability to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.

- Physical activities include standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, and grasping.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Associate's technical degree or equivalent military training, such as Army Prime Power or Naval Nuclear Power, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in P&C, project management, substation commissioning, or related fields.

- Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV certification within 12 months of employment.

Other Requirements:

- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test, and approved drug screening, along with periodic random testing.

- Valid driver's license required, with willingness to obtain an endorsement for operating vehicles with a combined weight of up to 26k lbs.

- Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.

- Willingness to obtain company-paid certifications, including TWIC, OSHA 10-hour, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training.
