Position Overview:
Design and optimize assembly process frameworks in accordance with established Bill of Process methodologies through inquiry, sourcing, concurrent engineering, assembly, installation, and commissioning stages.
Collaborate with the project team assigned to the component/process, which encompasses controls, efficiency, layout, information technology, material handling, and suppliers, to create a comprehensive assembly process that includes automated station designs and workstation & material flow layouts. Address manufacturing challenges and feasibility concerns within the Component Program Module Team (CPMT) by analyzing product specifications, identifying manufacturing gaps, and communicating these to the product development team.
Drive investment efficiency initiatives in partnership with product development and suppliers.
Generate quality documentation such as Supplier Capability Assessment Forms (SCCAF), Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans (DCP). Assume accountability for timing and financial aspects of the respective program content.
Required Skills:
Proficient knowledge of assembly machinery, fixtures, tools, and gauges, with a preference for experience in Automotive/Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering and a strong mechanical engineering background. Experience in process flow and development is essential. Familiarity with GD&T and print interpretation is preferred.
Self-motivated and proactive with excellent influencing, organizational, and communication skills. Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage the technical dimensions of the role.
Statistical Software Proficiency:
Experience with Minitab and Q-DAS is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
Develop a Make Like Production (MLP) strategy, coordinate tryout parts, and establish runoff plans. Participate in Virtual Manufacturing Builds and provide input and support for Manufacturing Events, including deviation processes and issue resolution. Create and maintain process documentation, such as process illustrations, tool layouts, and cycle charts.
Oversee equipment procurement and lead Machine Acceptance processes, including equipment verification and issue resolution.
Work collaboratively with plant personnel and skilled trades to plan equipment installations and develop validation plans to ensure readiness for production. Demonstrate a proven track record in problem-solving and effective use of error-proofing devices and poke yokes.
Identify root causes and develop and implement Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA) and Preventive Corrective Actions (PCA) solutions. Utilize machine monitoring data and system flow analysis to pinpoint assembly system bottlenecks and formulate action plans to address them.
Incorporate continuous improvement methodologies by leveraging Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned, Deviation, and Decision Record processes.
Flexibility Requirements:
Willingness to work in various locations, travel, and adapt to different shifts, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required; a Master's degree in engineering is preferred.
