Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a Project Accounting Manager to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in managing all financial elements throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, in partnership with project managers, division leaders, and accounting personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee revenue recognition for the project portfolio.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports and analyses for project managers and division leaders.
  • Investigate and document billing and revenue discrepancies, assisting project managers in resolving issues.
  • Monitor billing timelines for assigned divisions and maintain regular follow-ups with project managers regarding collections.
  • Assist in coordinating and reporting for audits.
  • Ensure the proposed setup of large or complex projects aligns with contractual agreements.
  • Review and approve complex draft invoices for project managers.
  • Manage a team of billing and project accounting staff, focusing on their development and engagement.
  • Provide training to billing/project accounting staff, project managers, and administrative support across the organization.
  • Perform additional accounting tasks or special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Percentage of Completion (POC) and revenue recognition is preferred.
  • Experience in the AEC industry is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of 5 or more is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with BST software is a plus.
  • Experience in billing for federal, state, and county projects is beneficial.
  • Mid-level to advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
