Job Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Program Manager plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, administration, and oversight of health, safety, and fire safety initiatives across the organization. This position ensures adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental health and safety, as well as compliance with standards established by regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the work performed in this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

- Provide guidance to management and staff on safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct thorough investigations and research to recommend best practices in health and safety management.
- Execute environmental safety rounds and training sessions for assigned programs; conduct emergency drills and life safety inspections for construction projects.
- Develop and maintain safety manuals, policies, and procedures. Manage all aspects of project management related to occupational safety and health inspections.
- Conduct audits for compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Fire/Life Safety standards; recommend corrective actions and improvement opportunities based on findings.
- Perform mandated Environment of Care (EOC) audits in various facilities. Conduct environmental assessments and suggest mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Prepare and present reports to leadership, detailing audit results and compliance data.
- Continuously update safety and environmental health policies to align with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify resources required for effective program management and develop annual budgetary proposals for environmental program operations.
- Oversee the Laser Safety program as assigned.
- Collaborate with external committees and agencies on health and safety management initiatives.
- Analyze reports to identify root causes of issues and recommend corrective measures.
- Negotiate compliance matters with regulatory agencies as needed and manage responses to any citations or violations.
- Ensure the effective implementation and administration of the Environment of Care (EOC) and TJC/Fire Safety management plans.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure compliance with various safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.

License/Certification: Valid California Driver's License.

Compensation

Salary is determined based on the role's requirements and the candidate's qualifications, including education, experience, and skills.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $103,812.80 to $137,623.20
