THE OPPORTUNITY

Director, Risk Management

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing existing quantitative models used by the firm. This may involve everything from refining quantitative methodologies to optimizing calculation efficiency and data flow, as well as improving user interfaces and the design of tables, graphs, and other outputs.
  • Address inquiries from client teams regarding quantitative and modeling matters, including directing them to appropriate models/methodologies, advising on suitable model inputs, execution, customization, and interpretation of model results, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to comprehend their needs; translate requirements and requests into modifications to existing tools; help prioritize and drive future development.
  • Support the research, design, specification, and testing of models/methodologies for use in asset allocation, portfolio management, and risk monitoring.
  • Conduct training sessions on new or existing models for various groups within the firm; assist in documenting and communicating firm standards and policy decisions.
  • Maintain and develop an understanding of investments, the investment industry, and the factors influencing investment decisions through research, interaction with team members, and practice.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree(s) with a focus in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering
  • 7-10 years of experience, preferably in a financial services firm
  • Analytical, collaborative, curious, creative, with strong communication skills
  • Solid understanding of statistics and linear algebra
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • 2 years of programming experience in Python
  • Proven ability to balance theoretical concepts with practical applications
  • Proven ability to clearly explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
