As a Radiation Therapist at US Urology Partners, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
Key Responsibilities- Verify prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient information to ensure accurate treatment delivery.
- Explain procedures to patients and provide guidance on potential reactions to treatment.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment, including immobilization devices and radiation accessories, according to prescription.
- Transfer patients safely to treatment couches, taking care to protect catheters, IVs, and other sensitive equipment.
- Perform imaging procedures as prescribed and document according to office policy.
- Deliver radiation therapy under the general supervision of the Radiation Oncologist and Radiation Administrator.
- Maintain visual and audio communication with patients receiving treatment at all times.
- Accurately and neatly maintain patient markings and documentation regarding setup requirements.
- Monitor patients for unusual reactions or symptoms requiring medical intervention and report these issues to nursing and/or the radiation oncologist.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines at all times for patient and personnel safety.
- Prepare immobilization devices and perform simulations and treatment planning scans as requested by the radiation oncologist.
- Assist in dosimetry as needed, importing treatment planning scans, contouring, and double-checking monitor unit calculations.
- Attend chart rounds as rotation requires.
- Perform daily warm-up and quality assurance procedures, reporting any results outside of required ranges.
- Secure and maintain supplies.
- Report any faults on the linear accelerator to Varian and the radiation oncologist/radiation administrator, maintaining a log of all reported issues.
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Submit proper documents to billing to ensure timely billing and accurately review patient charge summaries.
- Ensure patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Participate in accreditations and special projects of SRO as required.
- May be asked to participate in the development of SRO policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements.
- Complete all mandated training and in-services, including annual OSHA training and PPD placements, in a timely manner.
- Maintain licensure and complete all continuing education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
We are seeking a Radiation Therapist with a current or eligible certificate of registry from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a graduate degree from an accredited Radiologic Therapy Technology program.
Reasoning Ability and Computer SkillsYou should possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. You should also have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
