Radiation Therapist

As a Radiation Therapist at US Urology Partners, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
Key Responsibilities- Check prescriptions, diagnoses, electronic charts, and patient procedures to ensure accurate patient care.
- Advise patients regarding reactions to treatment and provide guidance on room and equipment usage.
- Transfer patients safely to treatment couch, giving special care to catheters, IVs, etc.
- Perform all imaging as prescribed and document according to office policy.
- Follow all mandated supervision requirements and observe radiation safety guidelines at all times.
- Deliver accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy under the general supervision of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Maintain patient markings and all documentation regarding setup requirements.
- Observe patient for any unusual reactions or symptoms requiring medical intervention and report these issues to nursing and/or the radiation oncologist.
- Assist in dosimetry as needed, importing treatment planning scans, contouring, and double checking of monitor unit chart rounds as rotation requires.
- Perform all daily warm-up and quality assurance procedures and report any results outside of required ranges.
- Secure and maintain supplies and report any faults reported on the linear accelerator to Varian and radiation oncologist/radiation administrator.
- Maintain log of all reported issues and ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Accurately review summary of patient's charges and ensure timely billing.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of the patient throughout the course of the procedure.
- Participate and collaborate in accreditations and special projects of SRO as required.
- Maintain compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for completing, in a timely manner, all mandated training and in-services, including but not limited to annual OSHA training and PPD placements.
- Maintain licensure and completes all continuing education requirements.
- Maintain a high level of patient confidentiality.
- Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Therapy Technology program with a current or eligible certificate of registry from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
