Data Center Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer to join our team at Proliance Consulting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and maintaining data center infrastructure, including a strong knowledge of power and cooling, fire systems, and SNMP management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain power distribution units (PDUs) and SNMP management systems.
  • Monitor data center infrastructure for performance and reliability, and take proactive measures to address any issues or potential bottlenecks.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as hardware upgrades, patch management, and firmware updates for UPS and CRAC units.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect data center assets from unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration between data center infrastructure and other systems and services.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data center infrastructure, hardware inventories, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for data center operations.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in data center operations and infrastructure management.
  • Strong knowledge of HP and IBM server hardware, including rack-mount and blade servers, Arista, Cisco, and NetApp hardware.
  • Experience with networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols is a plus.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
