About the Role

Clean Earth is seeking a highly skilled Hazardous Waste Materials Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of hazardous waste streams at our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Approve all waste streams entering the facility, reviewing materials for processing and assigning outbound profiles.
  • Provide regulatory review of EPA, DOT, and state designations to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure waste material is acceptable within the limitations of our Part B permit and actively seek alternative options for treatment if necessary.
  • Obtain approved outbound profiles for ultimate disposal sites and evaluate waste streams for the most cost-effective treatment option.
  • Actively pursue recycling and green options for traditional waste streams and assess the best method of handling delivered waste, considering treatment, labor, material, equipment, and transportation costs.
  • Determine the final assignment of process codes directly or through supervision of lab personnel.
  • Attend and actively participate in sales meetings, nurturing working relationships between sales and operations teams.
  • Assist in training technicians and lab personnel on price points and process codes and work with the laboratory to convey analytical changes and ensure samples move through the lab in the allotted time.
  • Routinely audit shipments for routing compliance and load optimization, verifying and comparing actual transportation costs to standard cost models monthly.
  • Participate in national, regional, and local bids by assisting with coding and costing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and/or Biology with a Chemistry focus.
  • Industry experience in waste management, preferably with a focus on hazardous waste.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in materials management or approvals management at a treatment, storage, disposal, or facility.
  • EPA, DOT, and state regulations knowledge.
  • Operating permits and Waste Analysis Plans experience.
  • Familiarity with waste treatment technologies and available service providers.
  • HAZWOPER certification.
