Position Overview:
The Chief Academic Officer will champion San Joaquin Delta College's educational vision and strategic objectives by delivering leadership, oversight, and accountability to ensure high-quality instruction, student equity, program completion, and successful post-graduation outcomes for students in designated areas and Transfer and Career (TrAC) pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President for Instruction and Planning, the Chief Academic Officer will:
- Provide strategic vision and leadership for TrAC programs, managing fiscal resources and facilities, as well as overseeing classified professional staff and faculty.
- Coordinate and supervise TrACs and Success Teams, focusing on student cohort management, access, equity, and progress monitoring from program entry to completion.
- Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management and other deans to facilitate student access to courses, maintain enrollment efficiencies, and ensure timely program completion.
- Foster collaborative partnerships across campus and the community to enhance program management and student services.
Supervision:
Receives general direction from the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction or designee. The Chief Academic Officer will supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the work of classified, faculty, and management staff.
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
In partnership with district managers, faculty, and staff, the Chief Academic Officer will articulate a clear vision for all assigned TrACs. Utilizing the College Educational Master Plan and other strategic documents, a comprehensive five-year plan will be developed to ensure quality instruction and support, student equity, program completion, and successful post-graduation outcomes.
Personnel Management:
Encourage a positive and collaborative work environment among faculty and staff. Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new personnel, providing administrative supervision and conducting evaluations as required by college policy.
Program Development and Support:
Support academic program faculty in strategic goal setting and implementing practices aimed at enhancing student equity and completion rates. Manage a diverse portfolio of TrAC programs, ensuring success throughout the student journey.
Enrollment Management:
Collaborate with various stakeholders to apply enrollment management principles, ensuring equitable access and timely completion of programs.
External Relations:
Engage with community activities to promote the college's programs and services, seeking innovative funding opportunities and developing educational grants.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution, with a preference for a doctorate. Six years of academic administrative experience, including three years in a leadership role, is required. A valid California Driver's License is also necessary.
