Position Summary:
As a Licensed Engineer within Olsson's Rail Track Team, you will engage in a diverse range of responsibilities, including track and civil engineering design, project management, quality assurance, scheduling, cost estimation, and potential travel for project oversight. You will work closely with various Olsson teams, manage design elements of projects, guide team members on design assignments, maintain project documentation, liaise with clients, and participate in client meetings. Additionally, you will aid in developing project scopes and timelines, support marketing and business development initiatives, collaborate with technical staff, and promote efficiencies in delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering tasks related to the evaluation, design, and construction of plans for projects of varying sizes.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, ensuring familiarity with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Perform design calculations and analyze reports to prepare cost estimates and assess project feasibility.
  • Utilize standard techniques and methodologies to facilitate coordination of project design components.
  • Communicate project developments and status updates with project managers and clients.
  • Maintain project information and client records within the firm's project management system.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior staff as needed.
  • Be prepared to travel and work in diverse terrains and weather conditions at various project sites.

Your qualifications include:

  • Strong communication abilities and experience in client interactions

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Relevant experience in Freight/Commuter Railroad Track Design
  • Experience in supporting railroad projects and/or design disciplines
  • Registered Professional Engineer status
  • Motivated approach to project execution and completion
  • Dependable and honest communication in a team setting
  • Proficiency in software for modeling, calculations, automation, and drafting
  • Experience coordinating with other railroad engineering disciplines
  • Familiarity with Microstation or Autocad is preferred
