Job Title: Branch Manager Communications

Under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of Communications, the Branch Manager of Communications and Outreach is responsible for managing and supervising five teams of public affairs specialists, leading and directing a wide variety of information, outreach, education, and communications activities. The successful candidate will develop a strategic communications plan that builds trust and mutually beneficial relationships between the Department of Water Resources (DWR), other public agencies, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise five teams of public affairs specialists
  • Develop and implement a strategic communications plan
  • Build and maintain relationships with public agencies and the general public
  • Lead and direct a wide variety of information, outreach, education, and communications activities
Requirements:
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Current and valid California Class C driver's license
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage staff with diverse skills and areas of responsibility
