Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer III to join our team at Ahtna Solutions, LLC. As a key member of our environmental services group, you will be responsible for conducting contaminated site characterization, monitoring, and remediation field assessments safely and in accordance with work plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field assessments and sampling for contaminants and environmental parameters in a variety of media in accordance with standard operating procedures, guidance, and regulations.
  • Design, install, and operate remediation and treatment systems such as air sparge systems, soil vapor extraction systems, and water treatment systems.
  • Document field operations, including personnel onsite, equipment on site, weather, environmental data, and operational data using photography, neat and legible handwritten fieldnotes and forms, and tablets.
  • Communicate with project managers using phones, email, and daily reports.
  • Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and job sites to verify safety and to ensure that project specifications are met.
  • Schedule and oversee subcontractors.
  • Adhere to schedule and financial objectives as specified by project managers.
  • Assist or lead the preparation of proposals, planning documents, and reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a preference for civil, environmental, chemical, or geotechnical.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access.
  • Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in other programs such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, GIS, databases, and environmental modeling programs.
  • ADEC qualified environmental professional.
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
  • 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification.
  • CPR/1st Aid/AED Certified.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Experience working on projects with Federal clients.
Working Environment

The position may be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.

Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.

Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.
