Job Overview
Metropolitan Family Services is dedicated to empowering families to achieve their fullest potential. As Illinois' first comprehensive human services agency, we provide essential support to over 96,000 individuals and families across various regions.
We are currently seeking a part-time After-School Safety Coordinator to become a vital member of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report incidents of trespassing, vandalism, and loitering to supervisory personnel.
- Inspect doors and windows to ensure they are securely locked.
- Monitor school entrances to prevent unauthorized access to the facility.
- Conduct patrols in hallways and restrooms to ensure that only authorized individuals are present and to deter vandalism.
- Oversee lunchroom areas to maintain order among students and prevent damage to property.
- Assist in supervising students on school transportation and within the school to uphold discipline and order.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in safety and security is preferred.
- Understanding of basic security and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with essential safety rules and procedures.
- Proof of vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required for employment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in response to safety and security issues.
- Capability to work effectively with school-aged children while enforcing safety regulations.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Strong oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
Additional Requirements:
All staff members are required to provide proof of vaccination or possess an approved medical exemption prior to commencing employment. If a medical exemption is granted, weekly testing will be mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves light work, which may include exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently. While the weight of objects moved may be negotiable, the role may require significant walking or standing, or sitting with the need to operate arm controls.
