Position Overview:


As a Financial Assistance Advisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding patients through the complexities of financial aid applications at Altru Health. Your expertise will help individuals access local, state, and federal assistance programs, ensuring they receive the support they need.

In this position, you will be certified to assist patients with the Federal marketplace and will facilitate applications for Hospital Presumptive Eligibility in collaboration with state programs. You will also provide support for Altru's internal charity initiatives, including Community Care and the Altru Foundation.

Your responsibilities will include acting as a liaison between patients and external organizations, gathering necessary documentation to support eligibility and appeals, and representing Altru's HERO program at community outreach events. Additionally, you will work with self-pay patients to collect pre-payments while educating them about their insurance benefits and connecting them with external resources as needed.


Key Responsibilities:


- Respond to inquiries from patients, professionals, and clinical staff, providing accurate billing and processing support.

- Clearly explain insurance benefits, payment processes, claim submissions, and general office procedures.

- Serve as the primary contact for resolving issues related to insurance, coding, and billing through various communication channels.

- Develop and implement action plans for managing outstanding balances and documenting all issues and concerns.

- Assist patients with limited or no insurance coverage in determining effective payment strategies to minimize bad debt.

- Conduct reviews of inpatient admissions and engage with patients or family members to gather essential information.

- Perform account analyses and educate patients regarding payment issues related to outstanding balances.

- Process computer-generated bills and manage payments or adjustments on assigned accounts.

- Complete necessary documentation for patients regarding pharmaceutical assistance programs.

- Maintain the computer program associated with the Prescription Assistance Program.

- Undertake additional duties as required to fulfill departmental needs.


Qualifications:


- Certification as a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) is required within a specified timeframe from the start date.

- A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is necessary.


Educational Background:


- Preferred: Associate's degree in Business or a related field.


Experience:


- Required: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.


Physical Requirements:


- Ability to sit continuously, with occasional standing and walking.

- Frequent reaching and handling of materials, with the ability to see and hear continuously.


Work Environment:


- Primarily indoor work conditions.

- Occasional driving may be required as part of the role.
