Role Overview:

The Senior Materials Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all facets of material procurement, production scheduling, and Bill of Materials (BOM) management. This position is integral to capacity planning and requires close collaboration with our inventory and warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of procurement specialists to ensure timely order placements and effective communication with suppliers, guaranteeing the on-time arrival of components for production.
  • Oversee the production planning and scheduling team to align with customer demand and retail timelines.
  • Coordinate both short-term and long-term capacity planning to meet operational objectives, engaging in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process with various departments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and accuracy through systematic processes.
  • Address supply chain challenges by collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management of finished goods, work-in-progress, and raw materials through regular cycle counts and annual audits.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to facilitate effective BOM execution and support new product launches.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve organizational efficiency.
  • Assess supplier performance and manage relationships to uphold quality standards.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the workplace and throughout the supply chain.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Leadership Duties:

This role involves direct supervision of departmental teams, adhering to company policies and legal regulations. Responsibilities include recruitment, training, work assignment, performance evaluation, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management and demand planning, ideally within a manufacturing context.
  • Proven experience in purchasing, sourcing, supplier management, and inventory control.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, with experience in implementation or upgrades (SAP is currently utilized).
  • Comprehensive understanding of cost structures and scheduling processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with a focus on project prioritization and team leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a dynamic environment.
  • High initiative and self-motivation, with a talent for inspiring others.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with team members and colleagues.
  • Comfortable in a pet-friendly office environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in medium to high volume consumer goods.
  • APICS certification.
  • MBA or advanced degree in supply chain management.
  • Experience with SAP Business One.
  • Previous experience in ERP implementation.
