Overview:


This role involves performing systematic evaluations of employee training documentation and records, assessing relevant environmental regulations to ensure comprehensive implementation, conducting regular compliance evaluations, and reporting on regulatory adherence under management's guidance.

The mission of the facility is to safely dispose of the nation's defense-generated transuranic (TRU) mixed waste in an underground mine.

TRU mixed waste consists of TRU radioactive waste combined with hazardous waste.

Due to the nature of the facility's operations, it must comply with the permitting requirements outlined in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) at 40 CFR Part 264 for Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities.

This includes the stipulations at 40 CFR 264.16 regarding Personnel Training.

Responsibilities:

Assess RCRA job position assignments at the facility to confirm accurate identification on the human-resources required form; evaluate newly established job roles to determine RCRA training requirements; conduct regular reviews of personnel training lists to ensure necessary updates are implemented.

Examine inspection records for adherence to the RCRA Permit.
Carry out periodic evaluations of the RCRA training program to ensure compliance with the record-keeping mandates of 40 CFR.

Demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills essential for guiding facility organizations regarding RCRA training requirements, fostering positive working relationships in the process.

This position will require interaction with the technical training department as well as individuals across various operational, engineering, and emergency management teams, including managers and designated training coordinators, as appropriate.

Exhibit strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Summarize evaluations, develop corrective action strategies, and clearly articulate areas for improvement in the facility's environmental compliance.
Assist in facility inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.

Proficiency in relevant computer applications is necessary to work with Word and Excel for creating documents, drafting correspondence, developing spreadsheets, and modifying files as needed to manage job responsibilities.

Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility to transition smoothly between various tasks.

Complete additional permitting and compliance-related assignments as required.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a technical field with two years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred experience in environmental compliance or regulatory assurance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
The capacity to work independently as well as in collaboration with other individuals and project teams is highly valued.
Attention to detail and proactive initiative are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for preparing Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and reports is necessary.

The ability to cultivate knowledge, respect, and skills to engage with various departments across the site is essential.


Pay Range:
USD $56, USD $101,460.00 /Yr.
