Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and EKG results.
  • Administer injections and medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Reconcile patient medication lists and maintain accurate electronic health records.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to tasks and requests from healthcare team members.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain patient confidentiality at all times, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or healthcare team members.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization required; Medical Assisting degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience required.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to family and geriatric medical practice.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others.
