Position Overview:
The California State University at Long Beach is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Lecturer in Counseling Psychology. This role is integral to the College of Education, specifically within the Department of Advanced Studies in Education and Counseling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver core curriculum courses in the Counseling Psychology program, including providing clinical supervision at associated clinics. Instructional methods may encompass in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Engage actively in program-related service activities, such as advising students and participating in admissions processes at the master's level.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow faculty and staff across various departments and the university.
  • Maintain a consistent office schedule that aligns with departmental expectations.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related field. Candidates must have completed their degree by the specified time frame.
  • Proven experience in providing counseling and mental health services, particularly in culturally responsive practices that cater to diverse populations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment and effectively engaging with a diverse student body.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching and working with students from varied backgrounds.

Preferred:
  • Possession of a clinical license (psychologist, marriage and family therapist, licensed professional clinical counselor, or social worker) from the State of California.
  • Expertise in specific therapeutic models, child therapy, family therapy, psychological assessment, pharmacology, advocacy, or telehealth services.
  • Strong record of teaching, mentoring, and advising students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in contributing to equity-focused initiatives in urban education.
  • Experience teaching essential counseling courses.
  • Experience as a clinical supervisor.
  • Success in working with populations similar to the university's student demographic.
