MGE Underground, Inc. is seeking an experienced Underground Foreman to join our team. As an Underground Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of underground construction projects. This includes supervising a crew of 5+ personnel, ensuring compliance with customer and industry specifications, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct a crew of 5+ personnel in the execution of underground construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with customer and industry specifications, including 4216 regulations and 811 requirements.
- Conduct daily field inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Provide on-the-job training to employees and ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
- Assign daily production tasks to crew members and track progress.
- Requisition and track materials needed for daily operations.
- Resolve complaints with property owners and coordinate with supervisors as needed.
- Review daily production reports and material usage sheets to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with supervisors to adjust daily tasks based on weather, supply delivery, and personnel availability.
- Track and submit employee and equipment hours, productions, and other relevant data.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and provide feedback to management.
- Lead weekly safety meetings with the crew and communicate company or customer messages.
- Report accidents, incidents, and injuries immediately.
- Mentor, manage, and train employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
- Report project status to supervisors and officials regularly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience overseeing the jobsite operations of a 5+ person crew.
- Horizontal directional drilling experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of 4216 regulations and 811 requirements.
- Understanding of when and how to use shoring.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.
- Strong organization, people, and time management skills.
- Able to lead jobs and crews safely and timely.
- Detail-oriented – quality and precision focused.
- Team Oriented – cooperative and collaborative.
- Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Desired: Class A Driver's License. Tankers endorsement is a plus.
- Preferred: Knowledge of HCSS/Heavy Job software.
- Preferred: Knowledge of asphalt and concrete restoration.
