Our Yard Coordinator Role
The Construction Yard Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our construction yard, which spans over five acres. This role is crucial to the success of our daily activities and requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be working closely with our Superintendents and crews to manage all aspects of the yard, including equipment organization, material inventory, maintenance of grounds, and minor vehicle repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee material and equipment inventory and restocking to ensure efficient operations.
  • Coordinate yard layout and equipment lineup to maximize space and productivity.
  • Responsible for general yard maintenance and clean-up, including sweeping and cleaning work surfaces, cleaning vehicles, and storing parts.
  • Load and unload materials on/off delivery trucks or company vehicles.
  • Operate power-driven equipment, such as leaf blowers, weed trimmers, and forklifts, to maintain the yard.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with company and federal safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment and responding to safety concerns.
  • May handle hazardous materials.
  • Assist with safety protocols for backing and lifting.
  • Perform routine checks on storm drains and repair protection as needed.
  • Inspect and sign off on fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • Order tools, repair parts, and vehicle supplies from the Fleet department.
  • Grease yard equipment.
  • Keep trucks and trailers in organized rows to maintain efficiency during crew arrival and departure.

Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification and ability to operate a forklift and front-end loader.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment use, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
