Maintenance Manager Job Description

Inland Empire Paper Company, a leading custom ground-wood paper supplier, seeks a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance of its pulp and paper operation. The successful candidate will lead a team of 25 multi-skilled maintenance crew members and be responsible for coordinating process improvement, equipment reliability, and work planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the maintenance of a pulp and paper operation, including a paper machine, mechanical ground wood pulp mill, gas fired boilers, and effluent water treatment system.
  • Lead and direct a department of 25 employees, working closely with an Electrical Supervisor.
  • Coordinate process improvement, equipment reliability, and work planning processes.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with the mill leadership team to achieve business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated strong paper mill mechanical background and a good understanding of associated pulping and paper making peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to organize and direct maintenance work in an efficient manner.
  • Excellent participative leadership capabilities, with strong forward thinking and ability to motivate others toward common goals.
  • Good computer skills with maintenance management software experience and the ability to quickly learn new processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading a work team in a Union environment.
