The **Academic Systems Analyst** is a pivotal technical role that delivers essential support for key enterprise functions such as admissions, academic advising, course registration, financial aid processing, housing management, student billing, and the upkeep of academic records.

The Analyst offers specialized technical assistance for the Banner ERP Student and Financial Aid modules, along with associated applications. This role encompasses business process evaluation and design, participation in the rollout of new software solutions, implementation of system upgrades, and plays a crucial part in application integration and project oversight.

This position collaborates with various functional departments, including the Registrar's Office, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate College, and the Treasurer's Office, among others.


The Analyst is accountable to the Director of Enterprise Applications and operates under the guidance of senior technical personnel, serving as a mid-level technical contributor within the department.

This role engages with both functional and technical teams to ensure that Banner and related applications operate at optimal effectiveness.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:


Information Technology Services (ITS) enhances and supports the university's mission of education, research, and the scholarly application of knowledge by delivering the necessary information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the university's strategic objectives.


ITS comprises nine departments that collaborate with the university community to provide the technology support and services essential for operational excellence, the integration of advanced technology, and the creation of efficient and effective technology solutions.

Requirements:


A master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with one year of progressively responsible experience, or a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with two years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.


Expertise in technical troubleshooting and the ability to write, optimize, and validate advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL queries and reports.

Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, encompassing technical design, unit testing, user testing, and production deployment.


Proficiency in gathering requirements from diverse stakeholders, conducting data analysis, coding, testing, integrating, and maintaining Oracle and other business applications.


Strong communication skills, including the capability to provide instructions and training through clear explanations and demonstrations suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Exceptional customer service skills, driven by a genuine desire to assist others.


A proactive and positive mindset coupled with a diligent and responsible work ethic.


Preferred Qualifications:


Proficiency in Banner Student and Financial Aid functionalities and modules, with a specialized focus on Banner 9 Admin Pages and Self-Service.

Understanding of higher education administrative processes, including admissions, registration, financial aid, and student records management.


Expertise in optimizing applications for peak performance, including process improvement and automation.


Knowledge of data mapping, transformation, and integration requirements, with practical experience in data exchange.


Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, including developing project plans, coordinating timelines, and ensuring that projects meet their objectives and deadlines.

Familiarity with change control procedures and compliance, ensuring software stability and data integrity.


Experience in application development, including the use of PHP, JavaScript toolkits, GIT, and other development tools.


Experience in developing reports with WebFOCUS version 8.2 or higher.
