Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you will be responsible for overseeing patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your key responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting as needed to reach desired outcomes
  • Build relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and staying professional
  • Help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery
About the Unit

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Hospital is a 16-bed unit that cares for critically ill children. The unit is staffed by a team of intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, Child Life specialists, social workers, pastoral staff, and dietitians who work together to provide round-the-clock treatment for our young patients.

Qualifications
