Pharmacist - Prior Authorization Specialist

PennState Health is seeking a highly skilled Outpatient Pharmacist to join our team in a dynamic and challenging role. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive timely and cost-effective access to specialty medications.
Key Responsibilities- Research and obtain authorizations for specialty medications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and insurance policies.
- Collaborate with prescribers, patients, and insurance providers to resolve issues related to medication access and coverage.
- Analyze lab and clinical data to inform medication decisions and optimize patient outcomes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance providers and third-party payers to ensure seamless access to medications.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in pharmacy practice, including new medications, therapies, and regulatory changes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two (2) years of experience in prior authorizations in a pharmacy or clinical setting required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, prescribers, and insurance providers.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Pharmacy technician or pharmacy billing experience with insurers and third-party payers preferred.
