Job Overview

The Senior Product Support Engineer plays a crucial role in leveraging a comprehensive technical skill set that encompasses mechanical design, materials science, power transmission, hydraulics, manufacturing methodologies, sensor applications, and a general understanding of electronics and testing equipment. This position is essential for sustaining an established product range across the organization. The individual will be expected to gain extensive product knowledge regarding design, application, and configurations. This role involves leading a diverse team that acts as a bridge between manufacturing and engineering functions. Travel may be a requirement. Additionally, this position is accountable for overseeing and directing departmental resources.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership (35%)

  • Comprehends the roles and responsibilities of each team member and manages them in all employment aspects, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and training.
  • Effectively oversees team members and processes to ensure all assigned responsibilities are fulfilled, meeting the needs of both internal and external customers promptly.
  • Ensures that departmental systems (e.g., JDE, ADP, SolidWorks) meet or exceed the requirements of all company personnel.
  • Develops, implements, and tracks the progress of both short-term and long-term objectives for all team members, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Exhibits confidence in navigating challenging situations and advancing innovative ideas.

Critical Tasks (25%)

  • Addresses product defects and supervises product enhancement requests.
  • Validates and verifies product modifications and new product launches.
  • Acts as a technical liaison for Purchasing, Service, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Maintains product configurations effectively.

Productivity and Knowledge (15%)

  • Provides ongoing support for existing products throughout their life cycle.
  • Conducts testing and qualification of new technologies, components, and products.
  • Implements product modifications and manages component obsolescence.
  • Facilitates the rollout of product changes to OEMs.
  • Maintains a cross-functional change request process.
  • Participates in the Continuous Product Assurance Review (CPAR) process.
  • Acquires extensive knowledge of product designs and applications.

Dependability (15%)

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in analyzing and recommending continuous improvements in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills suitable for interaction with all organizational levels, customers, and suppliers.
  • Experience in leading and supporting a diverse team.

The noise level in the manufacturing area is moderately loud, and the position involves both indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to varying weather conditions.
