Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Linear Accelerator Technician to join our team at Piedmont HealthCare. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology Department, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining medical linear accelerators, simulators, and other equipment. Your advanced technical expertise will ensure the smooth operation of our equipment, and your excellent communication skills will facilitate collaboration with staff and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced equipment repairs on Linear Accelerators, CT, workstations, and other devices in the Linac work area.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of system problems and issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge and techniques in the field.
  • Implement cost-containment measures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicists, physicians, and dosimetrists regarding equipment.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Medical Electronics, BioMed, Electronic Technology, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in corrective and preventative maintenance on high-tech diagnostic equipment, with three years directly related experience in maintaining and servicing medical linear accelerators.
  • Specific experience on Varian linacs and authorized Varian training are highly desirable.
  • ASEE certification or equivalent.
  • Certified Radiology Equipment Service (CRES) preferred but not required.
  • Vendor training preferred.
  • Completion of certified training from Varian.
  • Specialized training by manufacturer or third-party equipment repair in Linear Accelerator Equipment.
  • Working knowledge of physics, imaging technology, medical terminology, medical instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, and Linac service techniques.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, DNV, TJC, EOC, FDA, and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to Linac equipment service and repair.
