KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret specifications or blueprints to ascertain the required materials' locations, quantities, or dimensions.
  • Secure aligned structural steel components for permanent fastening through riveting, bolting, or welding.
  • Attach structural steel members to hoisting apparatus using chains, cables, or ropes.
  • Utilize cranes to position steel beams, girders, or columns accurately, coordinating with equipment operators.
  • Cut, bend, or weld steel components using metal shears, torches, or welding apparatus.
  • Adjust steel parts into final positions using tools such as turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
  • Manipulate steel components into approximate positions for bolting.
  • Unload and arrange prefabricated steel units for hoisting as necessary.
  • Assemble rigging equipment, including cables, pulleys, or hooks, to facilitate the movement of heavy materials.
  • Fabricate metal components, including steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, following blueprints or supervisor instructions.
  • Dismantle existing structures or equipment as required.
  • Perform welding on separators, glycol absorbers, and large vessels, ensuring consistent quality in x-ray welds.
  • Execute welding tasks on low-pressure products, including heaters and glycol coolers.
  • Layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using measuring tools.
  • Conduct tack-welding or full welding of components using various welding equipment.
  • Cut workpieces with powered saws or hand tools.
  • Melt lead for joint reinforcement or to create reusable forms from scrap.
  • Install or repair equipment such as pipes, valves, and tank linings.
  • Conduct tests on welded surfaces to assess quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Inspect welds and structural integrity using precision measuring instruments.
  • Smooth rough edges of workpieces using grinders or files.
  • Perform welding in various positions, including flat, vertical, or overhead.
  • Execute single-handed welding tasks.
  • Engage in pipe fitting activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce clean, precise welds.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints to visualize the final product.
  • Skilled in identifying defects in welds or structural issues in metal.
  • Knowledgeable in selecting appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Capable of conducting quality inspections of products and processes.
  • Experienced in performing routine maintenance on equipment and recognizing maintenance needs.
  • Familiar with the properties of metals and various welding materials.
  • Aware of safety protocols related to occupational hazards and trade practices.
  • Competent in utilizing both power and hand tools safely and effectively.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least one year of welding experience is necessary.
  • Ability to pass a welding assessment screening, including 3G Plate and two processes with visual and bend acceptance.
